mameshiba

mameshiba.  i had no idea what mameshiba was until a friend requested an ami edamame mameshiba.  i looked it up on youtube and it's a bit hypnotizing and a little (okay, a lot) puzzling.

  1. Your ami is so cute!! That video--indeed, very odd :) My favorite part is when the gentleman says, "I think I'm done eating now."

  3. Hi, I really love your green mameshiba. Could u post the pattern or discribe roughly how I should shape it?
I can crochet well, but am still struggling with shaping "free-style" crocheting without patterns.

Any tips u can offer me?
I'm always trying to crochet game characters (as they're patterns are pretty rare to find online), but they come out misshapen and look just...weird. Its difficult making them proportional and cute.

  4. thanks wynite! i struggle with shaping also. that's why i still like using patterns made by others so that i learn new techniques. it's amazing what people have thought of! the mameshiba was very simple. to make it bean shaped, i simply added a few decreases when i got to the middle. that pulled in the yarn a bit so that it dips a little. i hope that makes sense :) wolfdreamer has a fantastic blog where you can find patterns for lots of video game characters http://wolfdreamer-oth.blogspot.com/ you should definitely check it out!
